Personality:
Being a ghost type pokemon, Gastly enjoys a good prank every so often. One of his favorite things to do is scare unsuspecting humans, especially the weaker ones. Gastly doesn`t really mean any harm, its all in good fun for him. Although, if somebody scares him, Gastly is bound to hold a grudge against them for a little while. He`s not exactly the type of pokemon that likes to battle, the only reason he`d even consider a battle is to level up.
He`s never really liked humans, despite the fact Gastly has no reason to not like them. Freedom is just too sweet to give up, even though he does enjoy tagging along with trainers on occasion. Gastly prefers to follow around female trainers, generally because they`re a tad bit friendlier (if they aren`t freaked out by him that is!).
Gastly hates it when a trainer that he has tagged along with decides to go to another region. Its terribly depressing for the little ghost pokemon. Actually, he`s quite sensitive, and despises being called names. But for the most part, hes a loyal friend and a nice one at that. It just takes a little bit to get under his skin.
History:
Gastly was hatched from an egg in the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town, to two Haunter parents. He lived there for quite some time, before his parents were captured and he was forced to do things on his own. Gastly haunted the Pokemon Tower, and many of the trainers who dared challenge it for a few years, but eventually became very bored. He had always dreamed of seeing the ocean, and other towns for that matter, so he waited just a bit longer. A the nightfall of his second (human years) birthday, Gastly headed off in search of new and better things.
At first, he had a hunger for battle and adventure, but was no match for the stronger pokemon from the outside world. Eventually he lost the urge to battle all of the time, and just found a little patch of grass to train in at nightfall. A young girl and her small Nidoran F stumbled across his patch of grass, Gastly felt very drawn to the girl and followed her around. Another year passed, Gastly watched the girl and her Nidoran (Now a Nidorina) grow up. Gastly helped the girl with battle occasionally, and helped her obtain a Soul Badge from Sabrina. He never evolved though, and it was quite upsetting to him. Once the girl got her last badge and decided to move onto the next region, Gastly felt a sadness like he had never felt before. And once again he was all alone to sulk around the Kanto region.
It had never really crossed his mind that he probably could have gone with her, and wont until some time later. Once he did remember that he could go, Gastly hid himself in some luggage and ended up in New Bark Town
