It had been a terrible morning, well not for the ghost pokemon Gastly anyways, he had awoken when a piercing shriek rang through his head. His eyes shot open as the suit case tumbled to the ground, open with a human gazing down upon him. Gastly casually floated from the case before it struck the ground, then noticed the blazing sun beating down on him. He gasped and hid himself inside of a hole in a tree until the shrieking human packed up and left him alone. This happening place must have been New Bark Town, there were people of all ages wandering around. He spotted lots of spunky looking children parading off with their new prized pokemon, squealing all of the way. After a few hours of searching for the girl he had traveled with, Gastly decided to check the nearest route to see if she had already gotten her pokemon and was training. Gastly felt much much weaker than he used to, it must have been the traveling that did him in. Going to a new region drained him of quite a few levels, and now he was bellow level ten. He sighed, it had taken him such a long time to gain as many levels as he had, now he was back to square one. He waited until night fall before heading to route twenty nine. Everything was pretty much silent, just how he liked it. Gastly floated around trees, even though he probably could have gone right through them. Every time he heard a noise, Gastly felt paranoid that something would attempt to sneak up on him, and resulted in his spinning in every direction looking for the source of the noise. Hopefully, what ever it was, was a type of pokemon who had attacks that would just go right through him. That would make his job much easier.

A rattling noise blared through the route. Sound waves strecthing cleanly across the Ghastly's area. The rattlign noise continued and a spider, attached to a web, slowly sunk down from a tree branch, onto Gastly's head. He didn't seem to mind that he was on a ghost type. He scuddled around, looking for food. Seeing nothing, the Spinarak launched roughly back up into the tree and landed not to far away form the Ghost Pokemon. Searching for more food. The bushes rustled more and more, until the sound gave you the chills. A sound tha could have possibly scared a Ghost Pokemon away. The Night pokemon of this Forest did not want to welcome this Ghastly.

When the spider pokemon landed upon his head, he gulped since he couldn`t see what it was right off the bat. Gastly looked up, then groaned when he noticed the Spinarak and quickly attempted to shake it off. Luckily the strange spider got off of him and didn`t seem too interested in him, much to his dismay. Gastly wanted a little bit of a challenge, and a web probably wouldn`t stick to him.
"If that was your attempt to frighten me, then you failed little spider." Hissed gastly, narrowing his eyes at the spider pokemon. When he heard another sound, he felt a chill run through his little gas filled body.
The cowardly little gastly quieted his chattering teeth, he hated being on the other side of a bad joke. Glancing around, he got a bit closer to the Spinarak and asked in a quiet voice, "W-wha, whhaat was that?"

"I'm sorry, I'm just a failing little spider." The Spinarak retorted and he dissapeared form his web abck into the trees. After mroe rustling and blowing wind. A strange, deep voice could be heard. But you couldn't tell what it was saying. But the only thing understandable was, "Get out...." Red eyes appeared through a particularly dark area seen through a group of trees. "Get... out!" It exclaimed.

Gastly snorted at the spider, almost as if it had forgotten the strange noises. For a moment the ghost pokemon had forgotten about the mysterious creature lurking about while thinking about how inconsiderate the Spinarak was. But when he heard the voice of the creature, Gastly shrank back up against a tree and glanced around wildly. It wasnt until a moment later that Gastly realized how foolish he was acting, and took a deep breath in order to bring himself together. Such a long time had passed since he was forced to travel the world alone, without the protection of a trainer, that he had gone soft.
The ghost glared at the world around him and waited for this spooky pokemon to come forth. Hopefully it wasn`t as scary in person, or else he might be in trouble. Gastly made a note of it to find a trainer to stalk for awhile.
"Alright, I`ve had enough of your foolishness. Why don`t you just show yourself, you cowardly creature." shouted the Ghost Type Pokemon. Cautiously, Gastly moved away from the tree and out into the open. Gastly had a strong belief that if a pokemon hid behind big words and talk, that it was most likely just afraid to lose, which described him to a tee.

"Get out...." The creature moaned, one last time. Then, the red eyes reappeared and then, a Gengar walked forward from the shadows. "I'm not afraid to lose." The Gengar snapped. He expected a question to come so he answered quickly, "I read minds."

One of Gastly`s eyes narrowed slightly, looking at the Gengar with an incredibly confused look about his face. Why would a ghost pokemon, especially one so closely related to himself, try to shoo him from the route? It just didn`t make much sense at all. A little hand sprouted from the gas surrounding him, and Gastly scratched his head. No longer was he afraid of the mysterious voice.
"As do I." replied Gastly, "Don`t most Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar have that ability? Which leads me to my next question, we`re of the same line so why do you want me to leave so badly?"

"The reason I want you gone is because I own this place at night! When you become a Gengar, you become more territorial. The best thing that has ever happened to me." The Gengar scowled. "I am the leader of my clan, and you are not one of them." The Gengar said calming down slightly.

Gastly still had that puzzled look about his face, wondering why Gengar acted so territorial even though he was just a wandering soul and it was fairly obvious. The smaller ghost pokemon scanned around the area, half expecting some other ghost pokemon to appear at the mention of the word clan.
"I doubt that I`ll advance past Haunter in my life time, I have no trainer to trade me to evolve that far." Gastly answered, fixating his eyes back on the Gengar. He had no plans to ask if this Gengar had had a trainer at some point during its life.
"Do I seem like I want to take over? No, obviously not. If I was I`d probably be fighting you at this very moment, so why don`t you let me pass and pick on somebody whom is actually trying to steal your territory?"

"Yes, go pass. I've been trying to get you out if you haven't noticed!" The Gengar snapped, except this tike, he looked kind of depressed. Not sure what to say, he dissapeared back into the shadows. The rattling noise went to an obnoxious height before stopping completely. A Hoothoot was in a tree, just simply watching the Gastly. The owl pokemon was nocturnal, but currently had absolutely nothing to do. The Gastly had distracted her from searching hard for prey.

Gastly just merely chuckled at the larger evolution of himself, and hoped quietly to himself that he would remain the same (personality wise) when he evolved to something stronger. And perhaps he`d get the hands that he has always wanted, sure he could make hands with the little cloud of gas around him, but they didn`t actually work like real hands.
As he began to float off, Gastly noticed the owl pokemon staring at him. When a little beam of moon light hit him, Gastly phased out but reappeared before the Hoothoot.
"Excuse me my little bird friend, would you happen to know the way to the city just beyond this route?"

"Ya, just go straight." The Hoothoot answered. Observing the gastly's every move. The Hoothoot's eyes turned red and they glowed in the dark. Psychic waves building in his head, he was going to make sure he was prepared for battle. Lately, weird pokemon have been tossing him around at night.

Gastly turned away from the Hoothoot, but glanced back to nod his head in response. Noticing the sudden change in the bird`s posture, mostly his eyes, Gastly kept his large eyes on him trying to figure out why he was acting so oddly.
The ghost pokemon turned his head forward for a moment and stared ahead, he sneezed loudly. A couple of nearby leaves fell off the branches.
"I do apologize." Another little hand sprouted from the gas around his body, and whipped his nose. "And thank you for the instructions... Something wrong? You seem a bit, well, flustered."

"It's nothing, just there are a group of Gastly Evolutions pranking throughout the night. I have to keep my guard up." The Hoothoot replied. Playign along with the Gastly, in case the pokemon was from that clan of pranksters.

"So I`ve heard... Actually, I nearly fell victim myself. You see, I`m not from around here." Gastly explained, even though the Hoothoot probably could have cared less. He titled his head slightly, and glanced off to the side as if he was in deep thought. After a moment or two, Gastly realized that he had gone off on a bit of a day dream. "Well, I suppose i`ll get on my way and leave you alone. Good night."
Gastly`s little gas hands retracted back into its body as he headed off towards the town. It wasn`t likely that he`d come across a trainer that night, but perhaps if he traveled through the night... he`d find a trainer to follow around.

The Hoothoot nodded respectably and remained perched on the tree branch. The same rattling noisefrom earlier sounded through the route again. The bushes rustled, and through the bushes, was two Haunter. Well, the strange thing was, they formed theirselves together. So it was two Haunter heads and bodies with two hands. Their victim, a Rattata, caught in an Ariados web.

Seeing the Rattata made the ghostly pokemon want to help, but once he noticed the mutated Haunter Gastly decided it wasn`t really his business and continued to float by. Guilt plagued him, and made the ghost drift away much slower, but he really didn`t want to get into any trouble with some stronger looking pokemon. Gastly`s whole body shook, but he just couldn`t turn away any longer. He`d have to be quick, he would have to get out of there as soon as possible.
Gastly gulped, then flew forward as fast as he could. Know that he wouldnt stick to the web, he quickly rammed into the little rat pokemon trying to get him free before the Haunter got to him. If he had hands, Gastly would have used them to get the Ratata free but he had to work with what he had and ... well Gastly lacked usable hands.

The Haunter could sense a presence, and he was right on time. When the head on the left turned to see the Gastly, a Dark Pulse was released. Rings of shadowy, evil looking darkenss spread onto or towards the Gastly. The deformed Haunter having a devious grin on his face. The unusual thing, was that the Haunter had one red eye.

An attack was something that Gastly had been expecting, but with his back turned towards the Haunter while he tried to free the Ratata there wasn`t all that much that he could do. Ghost type moves are incredibly powerful against ghost pokemon, so the little Gastly wasnt much of a match. In an attempt to phase out of the area, Gasly was struck by the attack, and flopped into a bush. Everything now seemed hopeless, but an idea came to him suddenly.
Gastly disappeared, the gas reassembled behind the Haunter and formed his body again. A large pink tongue unrolled itself and he, with all of his might that was left, attempted to lick the Haunter.
'I hope that stupid rat got away... a thank you would`ve been nice though...' Gastly grumbled inside of his head, when ever he helped somebody they never thanked him.

The Haunter cackled menacingly. Seeing as he was successful in hurling the Gastly into a bush. But he felt a spine creeping feeling. He had been Licked. He turned around, fighting back the best he could, his right arm blazed with darkness and shadow sludge. He then spun around, and did an Uppercut Shadow Punch.

This time he was completely done for if he didn`t somehow manage to escape. Gastly knew that his particular species of ghost pokemon couldn`t evolve until they were about level tweny five, which meant this was already a battle doomed from the beginning. He, however, did not want to give up after landing a decent hit on the Haunter, it would`ve killed his pride or what was left of it.
Now, his plan was a long shot, but it seemed logical that it probably couldn`t fail at this close of range. Gastly`s tongue lolled back into his mouth as little waves radiated from his body and at the double headed Haunter, his Hypnosis attack. If Gastly put the Haunter to sleep he could get away without much more trouble, or lick the crap out of Haunter until he fainted quietly in his sleep. But still, it was a bit of a long shot, but trying would at least give him a little piece of mind knowing he tried.
